Why is my car AC not as cold as it used to be?

In New Orleans, we love our AC! Have you noticed that as the summer heats up, your AC seems to not work as well?

Here are 3 reasons that your AC is not as cold as it used to be:

Low Refrigerant Level
One of the most common reasons for reduced cooling is a refrigerant leak. Refrigerant is what cools the air in your AC system, and a leak can cause the system to lose its ability to produce cold air.

System Electrical Malfunctions
Issues with electrical components such as relays, switches, wiring or fans can prevent the AC system from operating at full capacity. Sometimes a component will partially fail causing the system to work some times and not others.

Excessive Heat Load
If the vehicle is parked in direct sunlight frequently the A/C system may struggle to cool the air sufficiently. If a vehicle’s interior or exterior is a dark color your AC system will struggle more than others to make temperatures comfortable.
