Why is my car A/C blowing hot air on one side?

With the summer approaching our air conditioning systems are front of mind! We have already seen the first few over eighty five degree days this year! Air conditioning systems in New Orleans are truly put to the test. One common failure clients experience when their a/c system is the vehicle blows hot or ambient temperature air out of one side.

Here are 3 reasons why your A/C is blowing hot air on one side:

Low A/C charge.
If your system does not have enough refrigerant it is possible that a low refrigerant charge could be the cause. A low a/c system cause one half of your evaporator to work and the other half not to cool. This will cause the air coming out of some ducts to feel cool and the air out of other ducts to feel warm.

Malfunction of a temperature door.
If one of the temperature control doors are malfunctioning it is possible that a temperature door may be the problem. Vehicles that have drivers and passenger climate controls have two sets of electric motors and doors. If one of the doors is not working it is possible that it could cause heat to come out of one side and a/c to come out of the other.

Restricted Evaporator Core.
If your cabin air filter has allowed dust and debris to collect on your evaporator core this could cause a restriction. One cause of limited air flow or higher temperatures from one side of the a/c ducts could be a restricted evaporator core.

Air conditioning in Southern Louisiana is a must! It is always better to trust a licensed professional with your air conditioning repair needs.
